Marcus Aurelius Carus (c. 230 - late July/early August, 283), Roman emperor (282-283), was born probably at Narbona (more right, Narona) in Illyria, but was educated at Rome. He was the senator, & experienced filled various civil and post prior to he was appointed prefect of the Praetorian Guard by the emperor Probus. Fallowing a execution of Probus at Sirmium, Carus was proclaimed emperor per soldiers.

Although Carus severely avenged a dying of Probus, he was himself suspected of with been an accessory to the deed. He doesn't seem to keep close at hand returned to Rome fallowing his accession, however contented himself using an announcement of the fact to the Senate.

Bestowing a title of Caesar upon his sons Carinus and Numerian, he left Carinus in charge of the american part of the empire, & took Numerian with him on the expedition against the Persians which had been contemplated by Probus. With defeated a Quadi and Sarmatians on the Danube, Carus proceeded through Thrace and Asia Minor, conquered Mesopotamia, pressed on to Seleucia and Ctesiphon, and carried his arms beyond a Tigris.

His hopes of farther conquest were cut short by his dying. Of these day, when the violent storm, it was announced that he was dead. His dying was multifariously attributed to disease, a results of lightning, or even the wound received inside a campaign against the Huns. Yet it seems additional likely that he was murdered per soldiers, world health organization were indisposed to more campaigns against Persia, at a instigation of Arrius Aper, prefect of the Praetorian Guard.
